GENERAL DESCRIPTION pH PROBE/ELECTRODE
pH measurement and control plays a key role in almost all water treatment applications, and SEKO's wide range of probes offer repeatable results to help operators achieve their goals.
Knowledge of pH, which represents a classic measure of the acidity or alkalinity of water, is essential in many applications involving laboratory chemical analysis.
pH-meters are used to monitor water quality in situations such as urban water supply, swimming pools, environmental remediation, food and beverage production processes and many other applications.
Electronic pH-meters measure the potential difference between two electrodes present on the probe immersed in the solution and display the corresponding value, converted into pH.
The probe has a special glass membrane, permeable to H+ hydrogen ion, which allows it to reach the measuring electrodes; the quality of the glass determines the quality of the probe in terms of sensitivity, speed of response and mechanical resistance.
The probes or electrodes are active elements with a limited lifetime and must be periodically calibrated with known solutions (buffer solutions, in this case the buffer solution pH 7 and pH 4 is usually used).
