ORP probe/electrode
GENERAL DESCRIPTION Redox Probe/Electrode
Redox potential (also called ORP) is a widely used measurement in biochemistry, environmental chemistry and water treatment. SEKO's professional quality ORP probes are designed to meet the needs of the water treatment professional.
In aqueous solutions, the redox potential is a good measure of the efficacy of the disinfectants present. In a swimming pool, the higher the oxidation potential, the more effective the disinfectant.
In water monitoring, the redox value provides the operator with a quick indication of the effectiveness of the disinfectant in the water. This allows the operator to assess whether the current situation is adequate or whether additional disinfectant needs to be dosed.
A redox probe consists of a measuring electrode in contact with the solution and a reference electrode with a stable potential.
